The owner of Black Sheep Pizza is bringing back his short-lived barbecue joint, with plans to open a brewpub in Minneapolis North Loop this spring.
Jordan Smith of Black Sheep Pizza is teaming up with Darin Jensen, the head brewer at Rapids Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, on StormKing Brewpub & BBQ, which is taking over the former ONE Fermentary and Taproom space at 618 N 5th St. (it closed last year), which is redesigning the space that s just down the street from Target Field.

Technically, he s reviving an old one, his StormKing Barbecue. The short-lived passion project opened in 2017 and ran for about a year at 26th and Nicollet in south Minneapolis, adjacent to Black Sheep s Eat Street location. I did not want to close that restaurant, said Smith. We never lost money, we just didn t make any money.
