COLFAX Should Travis Lee Knighton be convicted of the charges on which he recently was arrested, he could be sent to prison for the rest of his life.
The sheriffs of Grant and Rapides parishes are hoping that will embolden other victims they believe haven t come forward yet to contact their detectives in the ongoing investigation into the 48-year-old Colfax man.
Knighton, of the 15000 block of La. Highway 8 near the Red River, was arrested a few days ago by the Grant Parish Sheriff s Office, said Sheriff Steven McCain.
McCain, Rapides Parish Sheriff Mark Wood and investigators held a press conference Wednesday afternoon about the case, although they were reluctant to share much information about the investigation itself. The goal was to reach out to potential victims, said McCain.

An Alexandria man who killed a pizza delivery driver in 2017 has been sentenced to 40 years in prison. Braylon Dozier fatally shot 25-year-old Steven Allen and pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter. Rapides Parish District Attorney Phillip Terrell says Allen’s family did not want Dozier to get the death penalty or serve a life sentence.
“So the only option to stay in line with their wishes was the manslaughter with the maximum penalty,” said Terrell.
Allen’s father, Warren Dossman Senior, spoke to Dozier before the sentencing came down in court and said he forgives him, and he’ll pray for him, but wishes it never happened. Terrell says Allen’s parents are great people.
