Our understanding of how women experience war and respond in highly complex crises is often clouded by narratives that frame them as, at worst, invisible, or at best, victims. But women are the active first responders and recovery leaders in regions wracked by conflict.
This week, Americans are heading into Thanksgiving, a holiday where most of us eat way too much and celebrate the gifts we have in life, our families and friends, and the things we appreciate. It’s an important moment to remember that millions of people around the world are struggling to meet the very basics including having enough food to eat at all. One of the things I am thankful for every year is the fact that CARE is able to do as much as we do to change that situation, and help the people who need it most build solutions in their own lives.
