Whether it was meant genuinely or simply made in jest, the statement by basic education minister Angie Motshekga on rape as well as her subsequent reaction to criticism on the matter deserves condemnation.
While speaking to pupils on the first day of public schools, Motshekga said it was only through education that all our social challenges could be dealt with.
