The Chancellor of Dibrugarh University and Governor of Assam, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi has removed the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Dibrugarh University, Ranjit Tamuli.

Inquiry Committee Setup to Probe Irregularities in Dibrugarh University: Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi has constituted a high-level inquiry committee to probe the irregularities allegedly indulged in by Prof. Ranjit Kumar Tamuli, Vice Chancellor (since suspended) of Dibrugarh University. The Governor is also the Chancellor of Tezpur University.
The three-member inquiry committee will be headed by former Judge of Gauhati High Court Dr Indira Shah as its Chairperson.
Prof. M.P. Bezbaruah, Department of Economics,
Gauhati University is its Member Secretary; and Dilip Kumar Dutta, Senior Accounts Officer (retd) of the Office of Principal Accountant General, Assam is member of the committee.
Dibrugarh University vice-chancellor Professor Ranjit Tamuli has been suspended by Assam governor Jagdish Mukhi on the charges of “grave” financial irregularities and “misuse” of public funds, according to a statement issued by the Raj Bhavan on Thursday.
Mukhi, also the chancellor of the university set up in 1965 in Upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district, ordered the suspension acting on the “report” of the fact-finding committee and on “consideration” of facts and materials available on record and placed before him, finding “prima facie a case of grave misconduct, abuse of power and lack of commitment on the part of Tamuli”.
Tamuli is the third varsity official to be suspended since last week. The other two officials registrar Hari Chandra Mahanta and deputy registrar (finance & accounts) Diganta Borah were suspended for their alleged involvement in financial irregularities.

DIBRUGARH: Assam Governor and Chancellor of Dibrugarh University Jagdish Mukhi on Thursday suspended Dibrugarh University Vice Chancellor Ranjit Tamuli following allegations of financial irregularities and misuse of public fund against him.
The Raj Bhawan released a statement which said that the Governor has also handed over the charge of the Vice Chancellor to Professor RNS Yadav of Department of Life Sciences and Dean of Faculty of Biological Sciences.

Guwahati, Feb 11 : Dibrugarh University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. Ranjit Tamuli was suspended by Governor Jagadish Mukhi on Thursday following allegations of financial irregularities and misuse of public funds, Raj Bhawan officials said.
The officials said that the Governor as Chancellor of Dibrugarh University suspended the VC and handed over the charge to Prof. R. N. S. Yadav, a professor at the Department of Life Sciences and the Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, as he is the senior most professor of the state varsity.
