Noida: Fifteen people, including one woman from Ukraine, were detained by the Phase-2 police on Sunday in a raid conducted at an illegal liquor party in Sector 39.
According to police, the raid was conducted on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday after receiving information from the police helpline that a party was underway at a house in ATS Village Society in Sector 93 under the jurisdiction of Phase-2 police station.
“People were found smoking hookah and other illegal items. The tobacco which was being consumed by them has been sent to the forensic science laboratory for testing for psychotropic substances,” a police officer said.

Hundreds of Punjabis, who had got their bookings done and were set to fly to Canada in coming days, are distraught as the Canadian government has imposed a ban on flights from India for the next 30 days.
A large number of students and newly married women are among those who had got their bookings done which got cancelled owing to the ban orders due to Covid surge in India.
“We got calls from our relatives in Canada who informed us of the sudden orders passed there. The news did not just come as an emotional trauma for us but also affects us financially as we have paid huge sums on air tickets and also for mandatory provision for hotel quarantine,” rued an affected person.

YAMUNAGAR: Padma Bhushan and senior Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) worker Darshan Lal Jain of Jain Nagar, Jagadhri in Yamunanagar district, passed away at the age of about 94 years on Monday.
The cremation of Darshan Lal Jain was conducted with full state honours and guard of honours was done for him at Dwarka Das cremation ground on Buria road in Jagadhri.
Haryana chief minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Om Prakash Dhankar, state legislative assembly speaker Gian Chand Gupta, state education, forest and tourism minister Kanwar Pal, Yamunanagar MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora and other dignitaries offered their condolences to the family and attended the cremation of the deceased personality.
