Former Assam minister and expelled Congress leader Ajanta Neog along with two ex- legislators in the state joined the BJP on Tuesday. Besides Neog, another expelled Congress MLA Rajdeep Goala and former Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) lawmaker Banendra Mushahary switched over to the BJP in the presence of North East Democratic Alliance convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma and the saffron party s state unit president Ranjeet Dass. Neog said she joined the BJP with an open-mind and no pre-condition and promised to work with sincerity to realise the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party s state leadership. Neog, who was a close confidante of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and part of his cabinet, said she had entered into politics after her husband was killed by militants and served the people of the state and the Congress.

Guwahati: Assam Finance, Education, Health and PWD Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies will win more than 100 seats in the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections 2021. Speaking further on this, Minister Sarma also said that BJP now is aiming to win more seats in the upcoming assembly polls.
BJP has put up a stellar performance in the recently held Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) & Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) elections. It has been building up its strength to emerge as the winner in the elections next year.

GUWAHATI: The BJP, in collaboration with its new ally, United People’s Party Liberation (UPPL), is all set to take control of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) for the first time after a bitter battle with its ally-turned-rival Bodoland People’s Front (BPF).
The results of the 40-member BTC poll have led to a hung house with the ruling BPF emerging as the single largest party winning 17 seats, election officials said on Sunday.
UPPL has won 12 seats, the BJP nine, while the Congress and the Gana Suraksha Party (GSP) bagged one seat each.
