A terrifying warning for all parents about a deadly scam aimed at teenagers online. A Tomball family is sharing their story about their son who was tricked, and it cost him his life. They want every parent or guardian of teens to know what happened to their family and what they wish they would have done differently.

Yesterday (5-7-2021) the Alief Independent School District sent a message, in form of a letter to parents, making student s parents aware of an app called, “Party in My Dorm.” Superintendent HD Chambers wrote that they have information telling them the app is “being used by child sex predators.” The app is targeted to teens and includes communication devices like role playing and chat. It s rated 17-plus.
The predator will want to friend children with the aim of hurting them and causing them harm. Crime Stoppers of Houston CEO Rania Mankarious told our TV partner Channel 2, “Kids need to be really, really careful and mindful of where they are no matter what online platform they’re using. Mankarious says it was a good idea of the district to make parents aware of the potential danger, adding, “Their plea to parents for parents to be mindful and be watchful is true always with every platform, every day, at all times,”

Alief ISD issues app warming to parents
HOUSTON – The Alief Independent School District has put out a letter to parents warning them about an app called, “Party in My Dorm.”
Superintendent HD Chambers wrote the app is “being used by child sex predators,” according to the letter. He also wrote that while the app is intended for teens, “we have been made aware that it is being used to target and “friend” children by strangers who may cause them harm.”
The letter did not provide details on how the district became aware of the app or say whether the letter was prompted by any specific incident. The letter is dated May 7 and is posted on the district’s social media.
