Unknown gunmen have abducted the Councilor representing Agbashi Electoral Ward in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
According to PUNCH, a member of the State House of Assembly representing Doma South Constituency, Hon. John Osewu, is an elder brother to the victim.
The victim, Mr. Jibrin Ede, was abducted by the unknown gunmen in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital on Saturday, May 1.
According to the victim’s elder brother, the Councilor was kidnapped in the early hours of Saturday when he was on his way to Okpata community in Doma LGA to see a friend.
He said, “My younger brother was kidnapped this morning when he was going to see his friend in the Okpata community. Now the kidnappers are demanding N10 million and I don’t know how to get such an amount of money.

Houses were reportedly torched by suspected herdsmen in parts of Keana and Doma Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.
The President of Tiv Youths Organisation in the state, Barnabas Zayol, stated this while speaking with our correspondent on Friday in Lafia, the state capital.
Zayol said that most of the houses burnt down belonged to about 50,000 Tiv farmers chased out of their communities by the suspected herdsmen.
He said, “I am calling on the Federal and State Governments to come to our aid. These herdsmen have chased us out of our villages and the houses we laboured to build have been burnt down.”

No fewer than three persons have been apprehended by the police in Nasarawa State in connection with the alleged killing of a 44-year-old man, Mr. Vitalis Pevyi, in Assakior, Lafia Local Government Area of the state.
The command stated that the suspects were arrested following indiscriminate shootings by yet-to-be-identified gunmen during which Pevyi was reportedly killed.

Saturday PUNCH, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Ranham Nansel, said the relatives of the late Pevyi, reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of the three suspects.
