Dec 16, 2020 New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers respond to search and rescue incidents statewide. Working with other state agencies, local emergency response organizations, and volunteer search and rescue groups, Forest Rangers locate and extract lost, injured, or distressed people from across New York State. Forest Ranger Milano had just been transferred into the Long Lake area and was cruising the territory near Sargent Ponds Wilderness Area. For some unknown reason she decided to turn onto North Point Road, a dead end route with no cell coverage. Her path would lead to the injured hunter from Long Lake, crouching beside his truck and waving frantically.
