Danny Mendick to act as the emergency catcher. Zavala left tonight’s Triple-A game, so he is likely to at least be added to Chicago’s taxi squad.

With attendance at the levels we saw this week at the Coliseum after the A’s returned to “full capacity” (paid crowd Thursday: 5,182), one can hear individual fans if they speak loudly and clearly. So it was no surprise that when the Rangers’ Joey Gallo crushed a two-run homer to right off Sean Manea his third hit of the game, his fourth home run of the series and his seventh homer in five games a fan could be heard yelling what just about everyone had been thinking over the previous three days.
“Why are you pitching to him?” the fan cried, about a second or so before Gallo’s latest prodigious drive reached the seats.

HOUSTON (AP) â Carlos Correa and Kyle Tucker each homered to help Luis Garcia earn his first career win as the Houston Astros held on to beat the Texas Rangers 6-5 on Saturday night for their fifth straight win.
Correa capped a four-run first with a two-run homer to right as the Astros got to Texas starter Dane Dunning (2-3). Alex Bregman also had a two-run single in the inning.
