A former Department of Education executive was convicted of taking bribes in exchange for turning a blind eye to tainted food served to schoolchildren.
An alleged bribery and kickback scheme involving a former Education Department official led to dangerous portions being served at school cafeterias, prosecutors said Monday.
Eric Goldstein the former head of the DOE's Office of School Support Services is accused of taking bribes from the owners Somma Foods to turn a blind eye to the gross grub.
