The year was 1978, and many Americans were swept up in the disco culture depicted in “Saturday Night Fever,” a cult classic film released one year earlier.
Meanwhile, a young Chelmsford High School graduate accepted a job offer to return to his alma mater as an adapted physical education teacher, leading P.E. courses for special needs children.
In addition to his teaching role, that young man, Bruce Rich, also became the freshman wrestling coach, a position he kept for a year before taking over the varsity program ahead of the 1979-80 season.
