News Release State Cybersecurity Team Moves To Arizona Department Of Homeland Security PHOENIX Governor Doug Ducey today announced the appointment of Tim Roemer, Arizona’s Chief Information Security Officer, to Director of the state’s Department of Homeland Security. Roemer will succeed Gil Orrantia, who last month informed Governor Ducey of his intention to retire as the department’s director after 11 years. Roemer will assume the post immediately. In addition to the change in leadership, Governor Ducey announced that the cybersecurity operations overseen by Roemer in the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) will become part of the Department of Homeland Security.

Doug Ducey on Friday said Arizona is 100% focused on fixing the computer issues that have delayed payments to the caregivers of thousands of foster and adopted children and said payments will go out as soon as possible. He acknowledged the frustrations of caregivers affected by the state Department of Child Safety s decision to block their access to the new computer system that, among other things, is supposed to process monthly stipends and subsidies to thousands of foster, adoptive, kinship and guardianship parents. We want to get those payments out, that s the word, the governor said. Pressed for when that would happen, he replied, As soon as possible.
