Arizona families that choose not to send their child to public school will have option to receive a debit card with an estimated $7,000 for educational expenses.
Members of the Arizona Education Association rallied Tuesday at the state Capitol to again call on lawmakers to funnel a bigger chunk of the state’s $5 billion budget surplus into public school spending.
Earlier this week, the Arizona House approved with the required two-thirds vote a waiver of the expenditure cap that has schools concerned about having to make dramatic cuts this spring. But the state Senate has yet to act.
