Beautiful day outside. I think we have some great things to talk about. I will start by discussing the Federal Reserve. As you know it just happened minutes ago but it makes me very happy. I want to congratulate the Federal Reserve for starters they have lowered the fed rate from what it was, which was one to 1. 25. It has been lowered down to zero 0. 25. Zero to 0. 25. The Federal Reserve will be purchasing 500 billion dollars of treasuries and 200 billion of mortgagebacked securities. That number can increase but they will start with that. That is really good news. That is great for our country. That is something we are very happy. I am very happy. They did it in one step. They did not do it in four steps over a long time. As Rhode Island state leaders are racing toward passing legislation to legalize consumer sales of marijuana, the devil in the details is coming to the forefront. Governor Dan McKee and State House leaders are all on record supporting the passage of legislation to allow the sale of recreational marijuana.
Two major questions are emerging: how much revenue will be generated and whether the increased costs associated with addiction will consume significant portions of the state s anticipated additional revenue.
According to a range of experts, about 10% to 15% of marijuana users will advance to addiction with other significantly stronger drugs usage that will require drug treatment and have other societal costs.GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLAST
Solano County plans to purchase old Falls School site
FAIRFIELD Solano County supervisors announced the county’s intent Tuesday to purchase the former Falls School site.
The county announced it will pay the Fairfield-Suisun School District $550,000, plus half of the closing costs, to purchase the property at 1624 and 1634 Rockville Road.
A public hearing on the matter is set for March 2.
The school closed in 1998.
The county did not indicate what its plans are for the property, and when asked what those plans are, the email response was ambiguous at best.
“The county will be better prepared to answer what exactly the use will be when it is brought forward at the public hearing on March 2,” the email said in part.
