MOUNDSVILLE Once a center for learning, then a “business incubator,” the Sanford Center is slated to end its career as a derelict structure, with Moundsville’s council eyeing ways to salvage the land.
At Tuesday’s council meeting, Moundsville’s city leaders unanimously voted to “retain the land” while putting out bids to demolish the Sanford Center after much discussion as to the property’s future. Once Sanford Elementary until the late 2000s, the Sanford Center found new life shortly after as what officials once called a “business incubator,” leasing room for new businesses to get their feet wet before hopefully moving on to a more permanent home.
