Honiton Lions appeal for volunteers

Published: 12:00 PM April 16, 2021    Honiton Lions president Brian Richards, right, presents a cheque to the Royal British Legion s Paul Shaw - Credit: Honiton Lions Hard-working charity fundraisers at Honiton and District Lions Club have issued an appeal for new members to bolster their ranks and help them support more community projects. Brian Richards, club president, said that because of the pandemic the club’s fundraising had come to a halt but they were planning their popular classic car show on July 31 at the Honiton Market Charter Day at Allhallows field in Honiton. Honiton and District Lions Club was formed in May 1977 with 20 members from all walks of life. Their sponsorship was from Axminster Lions Club, with the late Lion Cliff Walton being their guiding Lion.

Wendy s Bus will continue to help people in Honiton

Published: 12:00 AM February 28, 2021    Devon District Councillor and joint creator of The Random Kitchen, Tony McCollum with TRIP Community Transport’s Deputy Manager, Sharon Thorne. - Credit: Joseph Furneaux-Gotch Following the successful use of Wendy’s Community Bus to deliver meals from the Random Kitchen to Honiton and its surrounding villages over the Christmas and New Year period Tony McCollum has handed over the bus keys to TRIP who will manage its free use by non-profit making local community groups and organisations.  This was the wish of the late Wendy Woolcombe’s family who donated the refurbished bus to the people of Honiton in her memory.
