COBB Mrs. Ruth Ellen (Eakin) Cobb, 64, a resident of Elkins, passed away Wednesday Feb. 17, 2021, in the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center in Elkins. She had been in declining health. Ruth was born Nov. 3, 1956, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Robert and Rose Eakin. On Jan. 8, 1984, in Elkins, she was married to Kenneth Russell Cobb, who preceded her in death in July 2020. She was also preceded in death by her newborn sister, Carroll Victoria Eakin. Surviving are two daughters, Kaitlyn Victoria Shaffer of Morgantown and Karen Alyssa Cobb of Elkins; one grandchild, Thea Shaffer; one son-in-law, S. Cole Shaffer; one sister, Kathryn Eakin of Elkins; one brother, Robert W. Eakin of Elkins; one sister-in-law, Sandra Cobb; two nieces, Stephanie Van den Bulk and Jane Cobb; one nephew, Brett Cobb; and multiple cousins.

Residents can track the campaign’s progress on thermometer signs throughout the community. ELKINS Despite all of the trials and tribulations brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic over the past year, the United Way of Randolph County is making a strong push toward achieving its annual campaign goal, The United Way currently has thermometer signs scattered throughout the community to let everyone know just how close they are to accomplishing what they set out to do, despite having to do it during a pandemic. Davis Trust, Mountain Valley Bank, Randolph Funeral Home, Citizens Bank, Huntington Bank, and Colonial Court are proud continued sponsors of the thermometers.
