Gov. Mike DeWine reappoints Ohio inspector general to another term Ohio Inspector General Randall J. Meyer has been reappointed by Gov. Mike DeWine to continue his service as the investigative watchdog over the executive branch of state government. DeWine announced Meyer s reappointment on Monday for a term beginning Tuesday and ending Jan. 12, 2025, subject to a confirmation vote by the Ohio Senate. Meyer, first appointed in 2011 by then-Gov. John Kasich, is the state s longest-serving inspector general. A state budget amendment in 2017 extended Meyer s current term by two years “to minimize possible political influence and maximize the political independence of the office instead of linking the term to the beginning of a gubernatorial term.
