The Westmoreland's Cafe Marchand set to reopen after pandemic closure

After being closed for more than a year because of the pandemic, Cafe Marchand at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art will reopen Wednesday. The cafe will offer grab-and-go service with a limited beverage and snack menu. Because of covid-19 restrictions, food and beverages cannot be consumed inside the Greensburg museum, but visitors are invited to enjoy their food and beverages, weather permitting, outside in the Jack & Anne Robertshaw Family Gardens or on the newly covered Swank Terrace.

Fox River Valley Libraries to reopen buildings to the public Feb. 8

  Posted2/3/2021 7:07 PM The Dundee Library and Randall Oaks Library will welcome patrons back into their buildings starting Monday, Feb. 8. The last day for curbside pickup will be Sunday, Feb. 7. Patrons are invited back to browse and make their selections for checkout, but will be unable to linger or gather and are asked to limit their visit to 60 minutes. Social distancing procedures will be practiced, and masks will be required to enter the library. Capacity limits will be followed, and patrons will be asked to wait for entry if necessary. Home delivery service will continue.   The Dundee Library is located at 555 Barrington Ave. (Route 68) in East Dundee. The Randall Oaks Library is located on the lower level of the Randall Oak Recreation Center, 500 N. Randall Road in West Dundee.

Randall Oaks Zoo's oldest animal dies

Randall Oaks Zoo s oldest animal dies   Updated 12/27/2020 5:09 PM The oldest animal at Randall Oaks Zoo in West Dundee, a 20-year-old deer named Pepper, has died. The zoo announced Pepper was euthanized on Dec. 19 after suffering from a variety of ailments in recent months, including age-related arthritis. The zoo said fallow deer in the wild live to an average age of 16.   Pepper arrived at River Oaks from the Santa s Village Azoosment Park in 2004 and shared living quarters with his favorite companion, a goat named Pumpkin. According to the zoo, Pepper quickly became one of the most-popular animals for visitors and the staff at Randall Oaks, and was known for his friendly smile.
