Interview: Jeffrey A. Brown and Noah Le Gros Talk The Beach House (Exclusive)
By
Actor Noah Le Gros stars in writer-director Jeffrey A. Brown’s sci-fi-horror film, ‘The Beach House.’
Sometimes the most terrifying circumstances in fictional stories can be those situations that are rooted in reality. That’s certainly the case for the new horror film, ‘The Beach House.’ The sci-fi drama, which was conceived and shot before the outbreak of COVID-19 earlier this year, powerfully brings together a timely, atmospheric and iconic mix of mysterious contagion, ecological dissent and body horror. The chilling story proves that both before and after the onset of an international health crisis, seclusion that’s caused by external factors can bring on isolated agitation that’s difficult to defeat.

Emily (Liana Liberato) is invited by her boyfriend Randall (Noah Le Gros) for a weekend getaway at his family s beachside summer house in Massachusetts. It s the off-season, so they don t expect anyone else to be around. However, Randall neglects to tell his parents that he s going to stay there with Emily. When they arrive, they discover his parents have lent the place for the weekend to their old friends, Jane (Maryann Nagel) and Mitch Turner (Jake Weber).
Although it s an awkward situation at first, the couple decide that there s room enough for all. They have dinner together and Randall shares some edibles he picked up on the way there. Soon after, they notice a mysterious fog coming off the water, moving towards the house. Except, it s not actually fog.

It’s been a strange, long, tiring, and dark year. Maybe that’s why 2020 has also been a stellar year for horror films. Honestly, it was hard to narrow this list down at all. The year was jam-packed with riveting, brutal, heartbreaking, and stunning horror movies. Many of which feel extra potent in a year shadowed by a global pandemic, political uncertainty, and social unrest. Horror films don’t cure the painful things we’re dealing with, but they can help make sense of the senseless. And for that we were especially grateful for them in 2020.
