After completing a replacement project for the Texas Street waterline in September 2023, the city of Graham will hold a public hearing next week for citizens to voice their thoughts regarding the construction phase. The public hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8 at Graham City Hall at 608 Elm St. The project was funded partially through the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Community Block Grant program.
The city is continuing mitigation efforts following the rupture of a sodium hypochlorite storage tank at the Graham Water Treatment Plant in November. The estimated mitigation cost covered by insurance is $200,000. Graham City Manager Eric Garretty and Public Works Director Randall Dawson updated the Graham City Council during their meeting Thursday, Dec. 7. “The cleanup at the water plant is still underway from the incident we had back in November,” Dawson said. “They have excavated all the soil and should start disposing of that this week.”
The Graham Parks and Recreation Board this week directed the City Parks Department to continue removal of safety hazards and other structures from Firemen’s Park. Some items which were approved to be removed include the enclosed barbecue pits, "wishing well" and metal heart-shaped bench. The board discussed beginning the removal of safety hazards, dilapidated park equipment and other structures during their meeting Tuesday, Aug. 22. One of the safety concerns was the pump station next to Salt Creek which has a metal building and pipe structure.
Over 2,000 linear feet of curb improvements and repairs are being bid out by the city of Graham as part of a concrete curb improvement and repair project. The Graham City Council first discussed the project during its Thursday, July 20 meeting. Public Works Director Randall Dawson said the project would be approximately 2,400 linear feet of curbing and associated guttering throughout the city.
