BELLEFONTE In the Bellefonte area, there’s the school board race and then there’s everything else.
For Bellefonte Area School Board, six cross-filed candidates are vying for four nominations on each ballot: Jon Guizar, Rodney Musser, Jordan Emely, Jack Bechdel II, Jeffrey Steiner and Andrea Royer.
Bechdel, Guizar, Royer and Steiner are running on the well-advertised Win4Bellefonte campaign. According to its website, www.win4bellefonte.com, is a “bipartisan community organization supporting candidates that will encourage excellence, pride and tradition for the Bellefonte Area School District.” Guizar is the current BASD school board president. Steiner is the board’s former vice president.
LOCK HAVEN It’s deadline day.
Today is the deadline to sign up for Pennsylvania residents wishing to vote in the May 18 municipal primary election.
On Saturday, Clinton County Government posted a reminder on its Facebook page. It read:
The Deadline to Register to vote or to update your Voter Registration before the Municipal Primary Election is Monday, May 3, 2021. The Clinton County Board of Elections encourages all eligible Clinton County voters to make sure they are registered and that the information is up to date.
Voters can choose the online voter registration system at www.votespa.com or obtain a copy of the voter registration form at the Clinton County Piper Building located at 2 Piper Way in Lock Haven.
With mail voting underway and primary election day three weeks away, voters will have an opportunity during a forum this week to learn more about the candidates in several local races.
The League of Women Voters of Centre County will host Primary Candidates’ Night at 7 p.m. Thursday. Candidates will participate via Zoom and the forum will be broadcast live on C-NET channel 7 and online at cnet1.org.
Only candidates in opposed primaries are invited to participate in Candidates’ Night.
