Budget passed amid 20 PMLN MNAs absence

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Thursday evening passed the Federal Budget with a majority vote amid a pathetic show by the opposition.
Opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif among 20 PMLN members remained absent from the house.
Some MMA leaders and Akhtar Mengal were no exception. Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin moved the Finance Bill, 2021, while the amendments proposed by the opposition were rejected by the house. The Federal Budget having a total outlay of Rs8.487 trillion will envisage 10 per cent increase in salaries of government employees and pensioners while the minimum wage has been fixed at Rs20,000 per month.

Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin moved the Finance Bill, 2021, while the amendments proposed by the opposition were rejected by the house. The chair ordered counting after the opposition had challenged the majority voice when the finance minister moved the finance bill for consideration of the house. On counting, the motion was passed with 172 to 138 votes.

Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday said that as the federal government ensured timely release of funds under National Finance Commission, (NFC), it is also essential that Sindh government makes just distribution of provincial funds.
The prime minister, in a meeting with the parliamentarians of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MOM), said the government is taking all-out measures to resolve the issue faced by the Karachi residents.
Federal Planning Minister Asad Umar, MNA Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Senator Faisal Sabzwari attended the meeting wherein the prime minister was updated on the progress of ongoing development projects in Karachi.
The prime minister said the early completion of federal government projects in Karachi and early launch of newly announced works are among government’s priorities.

LAHORE:Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that after Multan, the foundation stone of the South Punjab secretariat building will also be laid in Bahawalpur soon.
During a meeting with parliamentarians, the chief minister said a development package had been devised for Bahawalpur and he would visit the city soon.
He regretted that the past rulers befooled the people of South Punjab with hollow slogans and resources meant for the development of that region were spent on other districts. He vowed that no one would be allowed to commit a robbery on the resources of South Punjab. The CM said that the commitment and direction of the government were right, adding that governance model had been transformed for better service delivery. Usman Buzdar said he did not believe in the dogma of one-man show like the past government, and decisions were made with consultations while taking everybody along, he stressed.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday said that Pakistan could only achieve prosperity and economic development by ensuring equitable enforcement of law and providing justice to the masses.
The prime minister, in a meeting with the members of the National Assembly and Punjab provincial assembly here during his visit, said the South Punjab region lagged behind in development owing to unjust distribution of resources in the past.
