OKARA: A seven-year-old girl died and another was injured when a swing they were enjoying at a recreational facility collapsed here on Friday.
Several children were playing in the park along Okara-Faisalabad Road when a swing dismantled and collapsed as a result of which Robina and Nawabi, daughters of nomadic families, fell and were critically injured. They were shifted to the city DHQ hospital where Nawabi succumbed to her injuries while the other girl was in a critical condition.
Chief Officer Rana Naveed and Tehsildar Javed Virk reached the spot after the incident. The swings proprietors escaped.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ijaz cancelled the permission letter issued to the organisers of the family festival.

LAHORE: Police on Saturday booked three officials of the primary and secondary healthcare (P&SH) department on charges of making fake Covid vaccine entries at Expo Centre.
Nawab Town police registered the case against three P&SH employees Rehan, Shahzaib and Zeeshan under section 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the complaint of Rana Naveed, a shift in charge at the Expo Centre.
Mr Naveed alleged that Rehan and Shahzaib administered AstraZeneca to five people demanding that particular vaccine, charging Rs4,000 per person, and Zeeshan collected the bribe amount.
