A NAKED man who went on a violent rampage through the centre of Helston was too ill to attend court when he was sentenced on Friday. Matthew Shaw, 21, from Helston was sentenced to 14 months in prison on Friday following a trial at Truro Crown Court in April when he was found guilty of affray. With time served he could be released very soon. At the trial, Truro Crown Court heard how Shaw was aggressive and violent, punching the landlady of the Bell Inn in Meneage Street in the mouth and headbutting another man who tried to intervene. Shaw refused to attend court during the trial and his defence barrister Ramsey Quaife offered no witnesses and did not present a defence case to the jury.
