Samajwadi Party legislators had on Tuesday disrupted proceedings at the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, alleging the "murder of democracy" at the bypolls in Rampur Sadar.
BJP candidate Akash Saxena has defeated SP candidate Asim Raza by more than 33000 votes. Saxena told the reporters that he would work to develop Rampur as an industrial hub. He said that Rampur had broken the shackles of slavery after 50 years and had chosen the BJP.
A lawyer on Wednesday mentioned a plea seeking an urgent hearing on the petition in which he has alleged that police have stopped thousands of voters from exercising their right to cast their vote in Rampur bypolls.
