The use of cannabis leaves as a food ingredient has become very popular among Thailand’s restaurants after the Narcotics Act (No.7) which became effective earlier this year allowed the use of cannabis and kratom for medical purposes while also permitting the use of various parts of cannabis and hemp, except flower heads, for other purposes.
Many eateries have started serving cannabis-infused menus. Even Chao Phya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital, one of the country’s main herbal medicine producers, rolled out its cannabis-mixed menus earlier this year, which includes spicy Thai-style salad, Thai spicy pork soup, kaphrao rice and “kik kak” (giggly) bread.
