Elections should not be held in those areas where communal clashes occurred on the occasion of Ram Navami, the Calcutta High Court orally suggested on Tuesday.
The NIA has registered six cases after violence broke out during Ram Navami processions in several areas of West Bengal, including Rishra (Hooghly district), Shibpur (Howrah) and Dalkhola (South Dinajpur).
The bench of Acting Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam made the observation while transferring probe in the violence that broke out in various parts of Howrah and Dalkhola districts during the recent Ram Navami celebrations.
