Police have registered a first information report (FIR) against nearly 300 persons and arrested 21 so far in connection with a clash between two groups during a Ram Navami procession in Mumbai's Malvani area, an official said today.
A day after a clash erupted between two groups amid Ram Navami celebrations in Howrah, Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Friday said that strict and decisive action will be taken to prevent recurrence of such criminal intimidation.
The FIR has been filed against a mob of about 500 persons, who “pelted stones during a procession of Ram Navami”, he said. The accused are members of the minority community.
