down, 13,000 feet, they re going to bring in these other wells, down here, relief wells, and they re going to drill into the side of this thing, and then fill it with cement, basically permanently capping it. that should happen sometime by mid-august, provided all these things happen. but you know, we just had a storm go through here, very bad, and the reason they created this three capping well or basically the three ram capping well is if there was a hurricane or a very bad seas, they could lock it down on the ocean floor and get those vehicles or those containment ships out of the area, which are currently taking on oil. and that was the intent, and of course, now it s clearing up. but that gave them an alternative, bill, to in case there was bad weather. again, what they re hoping to do within the next 30 days is drill the relief wells, come down, intersect above the oil reservoir, but below the ocean floor, and try to kill that with cement and mud, bill. bill: very well done, wi
kind of a frequent or fissure in the geology underneath and the oil could seep up that way, too, when you have pressure or the cap under pressure. those are the three areas of concern right now, jenna. jenna: you did some nice model building yourself there, william. what s going to happen next? is this really a permanent solution, are we on a wait and see course here until we see if anything actually goes wrong? well, i want to show you two things. number one, this is the containment cap that they put on top of the old blowout preventer. this is called the three ram capping stack. and they basically sealed it here and here. they shut off the old blowout preventer and then they slowly turned these valves to completely shut the system down on the ocean floor. now they re checking for those leaks. now, here s what s interesting. this is only a temporary solution, and at one point they may open these portals up again and bring oil back to the surface on these
