This is actually the second version of the mobile museum a bus packed with exhibits on most major U.S. wars. The first bus broke down several years ago, but Santillo says it was a huge success during its approximately four-year run.
“Our major focus was to get to the schools,” he says. “What I realized and all of us older veterans realized is that the younger people really have very little knowledge of the sacrifices the military has made over the last 100 years. So we want to bring that to them.”
The new bus makes its formal debut Thursday, July 29, during a fundraiser at Cape Coral’s Lake Kennedy Senior Center. But the former Bloodmobile has already had a low-key unveiling at The Shell Factory in North Fort Myers its home when it’s not on the road and also the annual Red White & Boom Fourth of July celebration in downtown Cape Coral.
