In the first few moments of the documentary, “Blue Ridge: The Randy Detrick Story,” the camera pans onto the lush green vines on the grounds of his Blue Ridge Estate Vineyards and Winery in Saylorsburg.
“A grape truly is sunlight turned into wine. That’s what it is. The sun hits the leaf, the leaf takes that energy turns (it into) sugar, the sugar then migrates from the leaf into the berry,” Detrick says into the camera. “It is the art of turning sunlight into wine. A vine will give you back whatever attention you give to it. If you treat that vine very well, that vine will give you such great grapes.”
