Trade between Grodno Oblast of Belarus with Uzbekistan in 2023 increased by 11%, Grodno Oblast governor Vladimir Karanik told reporters after a meeting with Charge d'Affaires of Uzbekistan in Belarus Rakhmatulla Nazarov.
Charge d'Affaires of Uzbekistan to Belarus Rakhmatulla Nazarov emphasized the importance of interregional contacts as he talked to journalists after his meeting with the leadership of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee, BelTA reports.
“Mutual visits of the two heads of state and their regular communication on international platforms opened up a new chapter in the history of Belarus-Uzbekistan relations and filled them with specific and practical content,” the diplomat said.
Promotion of trade in timber and agricultural products, development of import substitution and holding joint business events have been identified as priority areas of cooperation between the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Belarus
In January-August 2022, the trade in food products and agricultural raw materials between Belarus and Uzbekistan grew by 68.1% and the export rose by 63.4% year-on-year.
