Bengaluru, April 28 : India hockey team forward Shamsher Singh said that a player s real ability can be judged only in match situations and not in practice sessions.
The 23-year-old from Punjab said that the tour of Argentina for the FIH Pro League matches recently had given him a good idea about the level at which top hockey players play.
India beat the defending Olympic champions in both FIH Pro League games besides winning two practice games as well.

Buenos Aires, April 13 : After a superb show in the FIH Hockey Pro League where India defeated Olympic champions Argentina in both the matches, the hosts finally tasted victory handing visiting Indians their first loss of the tour in the third practice match on Tuesday. Lucas Toscani scored the all-important goal.
On a day when Argentina s defence seemed impregnable, Toscani s eighth-minute strike sealed India s fate.
Though India made a positive start with forwards Lalit Upadhyay and Rajkumar Pal making deep forays into rival territory, a chastened Argentine defence following their 0-3 drubbing in the second Pro League match, staved off the attacks confidently.

Buenos Aires: India completed their second win in as many days in the FIH Pro League as Harmanpreet Singh (11’), Lalit Upadhyay (25’) and Mandeep Singh’s (58’) goals helped the visitors outclass the Olympic Champions Argentina 3-0 in Buenos Aires on Sunday.
Argentina got off to a great start, raiding the Indian circle in numbers. Krishan Bahadur Pathak, who was playing his 50th international match, made three brilliant saves in the first quarter to deny the hosts from taking the lead. Forwards Macio Casella and Martin Ferrerio’s efforts from close range were expertly pushed away by Pathak.
India gradually found their feet in the contest with Rajkumar Pal testing Argentina’s veteran goalkeeper Juan Manuel Vivaldi. In the 11th minute, Harmanpreet scored his third goal in two days, drilling a penalty corner away from Vivaldi’s left and into the corner of the net.
