Rajkot: After an alleged scam of sending false samples of Covid suspects for testing to the Rajkot Civil hospital from the villages surfaced, three employees including two contractual workers of Khodapipar primary health centre of Padadhri taluka were terminated on Sunday.
According to the district administration, medical officer Sagar Dobariya, Dr Praful Thummar and lab technician Deepti Ruparelia were terminated with immediate effect.
The health centre team was tasked with identifying Covid suspects from 13 villages falling under its jurisdiction and sending samples for testing to the Rajkot civil hospital. According to primary investigation by the district health officials, the trio was sending samples of non-infected people with identical names of villagers and phone numbers of health centre staffers, without actually undertaking the identification exercise in the villages.

RAJKOT: Loan sharks set a 19-year-old borrower ablaze in Palitana town of Bhavnagar district late on Friday. The victim, Mehboobsha Pathan, who sustained more than 60% burns succumbed during treatment at Sir T hospital in Bhavnagar.
The accused duo Lala Kotila and Mahipat Kotila has been booked under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder) and various others sections of the Money Laundering Act. They will now be booked for murder as Pathan succumbed to burns, said police.
Talking to media persons, inspector of Palitana town police station, N M Chaudhri said, “It’s clear that the victim had himself brought petrol. We are investigating whether the accused set him afire or he set himself ablaze. We are checking CCTV cameras and recording witnesses statements. We have also rounded up one of the accused and are interrogating him.”
Palanpur: A saint from Chhathiyarda village’s Kabir ashram, around 5km from Mehsana, has announced of taking samadhi on Sunday within the ashram premises, between 10am and 11am. Sattsun Maharaj from Juna Vadaj of Ahmedabad will go into a state of absolute transcend meditation and claims he will not be buried underground.
While crowds have started gathering around the premises singing bhajans, cops are trying to control the situation.
Sattsun Maharaj, originally called Raju Karate before he took deeksha, had also contested on a BJP ticket for the post of a corporator in 2005, but lost. The saint has also been running karate classes for some time.

The already stressed industry that employs over 3 lakh workers and has an annual turnover of Rs 3,000 crore, has been hit hard due to spike in the cost of raw materials that have gone up by 60-70% in the last three months. Many of the manufacturing unit owners had to cancel orders from wholesalers as they could hardly afford to deliver goods at old rates.
The 26 week course at INS Valsura In Jamnagar completed on Thursday
Rajkot: The 26-week course of Direct Entry Electrical Mechanic (Power and Radio) at INS Valsura in Jamnagar was completed on Thursday. As many as 302 sailors from Indian Navy and 26 Naviks from the Indian Coast Guard successfully completed the course and passed out from INS Valsura.
In addition to the core fundamentals of electronics and electrical technology, the trainees were accorded hands-on training in assembly and repair of basic electric and electronic circuits. The training curriculum also included grooming and mentoring exercises aimed to instil Naval Core values and mould young novices into competent sea warriors.
