RANCHI: Four Congress MLAs, who are known detractors of the state party leadership, rushed to Delhi on Tuesday, three days after the return of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Rameshwar Oraon from the national capital, to lobby for their share in the government or any government-supported boards and corporations.
The four MLAs are the party’s co-working president and Jamtara legislator Irfan Ansari, Mamta Devi (Ramgarh), Rajesh Kachchap (Khijiri) and Umashankar Akela (Barhi). In the run-up to the 2019 assembly polls, Akela, who was then BJP MLA from Barhi, joined Congress to contest from the seat after the saffron camp denied him the ticket.
