The Monsoon trough is now passing over Rajasthan and under its influence, heavy rains are likely to continue in many districts during the next 2 to 3 days. Intensity of rain will be more over Southwest, South and East Rajasthan. The rain activities will be relatively less over Northwest and West Rajasthan.
Capital city Jaipur and Churu, Sikar, Bhilwara, Kota and Bundi have witnessed light to moderate showers. Today and tomorrow, more showers are expected over Ganganagar, Suratgarh, Hanumangarh, Anupgarh, Alwar, Jhunjhunu, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Bundi, Baran and Jhalawar.
Very heavy rains have lashed isolated pockets of Rajasthan wherein Sri Ganganagar recorded a whopping 224 mm of rains in just a span of 24 hours. All records are broken wherein the city has not seen 224 mm of rains even in the entire month of July in the last ten years. More rains have been seen in the last 3 hours, between 8:30 am and 11:30 am at 48 mm.
A low pressure area has formed over Coastal Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. Also, there is a cyclonic circulation over North Arabian Sea. Axis of trough joining these two systems has an embedded circulation over South Rajasthan and adjoining Gujarat. This convergence zone will remain active during the week over southern half of Rajasthan.
Decent moderate showers, possibly heavy at isolated places are expected today and the remnant ones, tomorrow also. The 2nd circulation will have showers confined to north and west Rajasthan tomorrow.
