The serpentine blockade of NH44 by farmers at Dakha Singhu on Delhi’s border with Haryana has been the cynosure of the movement against the new farm laws.
However, the blockade of NH9 at Tikri Kalan further southwest on the border has spurred an intellectual resistance to the new laws with the first library and newspaper of the movement emerging from here.
Organisers have now started a lecture series too, and they have inspired several such publications and libraries across protest sites of farmers.

The farmers protesting against the Centre’s farm laws have threatened to block the Jaipur-Delhi highway today. Farmer leaders said major highways linking the national capital will be blocked from Sunday and they will sit on a hunger strike on December 14, when they have called for a nationwide protest. Agitating farmers picketed highway toll plazas in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on Saturday and claimed thousands more will soon arrive on Delhi s borders to intensify their stir against the Centre s new agri laws.
He asked all farmers unions to follow what is being said by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha only .
Farmer leader Shiv Kumar Kakka claimed government agencies have been stopping farmers from reaching Delhi, but the protest will continue till our demands are met . Our stand is clear, we want the three farm laws repealed. We will fight till our last breath. There is no question of withdrawing or leaving midway, he said. All farmer unions participating in this movement are together and the decisions taken by the committee of farmers representatives at the Singhu border apply to everyone.
Another farmer leader, Rakesh Tikait, said if the government offers another proposal for talks, the Kisan Samyukt Morcha will decide on it.
