indira petersons is watching the flooding. that s devastating. truly devastating, unfortunately, almost identical pictures today that we saw yesterday. we actually pulled up yesterday s radar. we reported anywhere from seven to nine inches of rain yesterday. now, let s look at the current radar. almost an identical picture. we re still talking about rainfall rates, about two inches an hour. we see a band, kansas and missouri. you have that ground that s saturated. so any additional rain is still saturating. look at waynesville. let s talk about what we re expecting the next several days. you can see where the biggest chance for more severe thunderstorms today are going to be oklahoma and kansas. so kind of the same region, as we stretch into tomorrow, we re still seeing the training thunderstorms in the same region. in fact, the severe weather will stretch to illinois tomorrow.

kansas pounded by severe storms yesterday. pretty amazing pictures there. let s go ahead and bring in meteorologist ingrid petersons, who are monitoring all of today s weather. i know, indra, you are kind of a self-described weather nerd. i know you would like to be out there witnessing that in person, but it s also very dangerous. weather geek, that is definitely me. we re talking about rainfall rates over 2 inches an hour. about 7 inches on sunday morning in kansas and this morning in missouri, that system moved just a little farther to the east and they dealt with heavy rainfall rates, about 7 inches of rain until about 6:00 in the morning, starting at midnight. an unbelievable a lmount of rai. they had flash flood mrng emergencies. and these systems are training, meaning storm after storm over the same place, day after day. and unfortunately, as we go

welcome back to morning joe. it s 7:35 here on the east coast. if you re just waking up, we re following the path of hurricane sandy. let s go right upstairs to bill karins for the latest. hey, bill. good morning. we re starting to watch the worst of the weather now moving further inland. for the first time, washington, d.c., and the baltimore areas are starting to pick up really heavy rainfall rates. that s going to continue for a couple hours. your biggest concerns, i believe, are around d.c., baltimore and delmarva region. you could get up to ten inches of rain. flash flooding an issue throughout the day today. the leaves falling, the drains are going to clog. that s your biggest concern. you see those bright yellows and reds from baltimore to d.c. through the heart of maryland and eastern virginia. that rainfall is going to stay with you through much of the storm. look at the projected totals. the reds, the darker shades of
