this system was unbelievable. it broke the daily record for any point in time throughout the year. almost doubled the last record which was set in 1919. they got 19.08 inches in boulder and that was last thursday. incredible amount of rain. they have also now broken the amount of rain for september and the yearly record up to this point in time. almost 30 inches of rain in the region. good news thunderstorms rare ou there but diminishing. they will get a breather in between systems. another system in the pacific northwest that will drop a cold front. this will be tomorrow night through thursday. we will watch that for the threat of more thunderstorms tomorrow. never a good thing when you already have more rain out there. let s talk about these rivers. we have so much water out there. all this is going to go down river on the south platt river and makes its way farther downward and head toward nebraska and see major flooding in areas that never even got the
wave continuing. once again it s going to feel like it s up around 100 degrees when you factor in the humidity. we have rain out there. most of the heavy rain falling across north dakota where we have downpours north of bismark. our biggest threat of thunderstorms, especially early this afternoon, will be across parts of minnesota into northwestern wisconsin. not tornadoes but the risk of large hail and gusty winds out of the thunderstorms. it s staying hot. 10 in dallas, 94 in kansas city but clouds and off and on showers especially later on today and tomorrow it will start to warm back up to 77 in boston. chicago is hitting 91. the heat wave in minneapolis should come to an end by sunday. highs up to around 80 degrees or so. brian. all right. thank you very much. coming up at the top of the hour on morning joe, we ll have our coverage continuing from outside of detroit where on the assembly line they re about to get going
actually, unfortunately, one of the worst morning commutes of the year around baltimore, maryland, up to philadelphia, heading for new york city. so serious weather this morning. we had some tornado warnings that we were worried about. no confirmed damage there in the northern maryland section. in wilmington, delaware, right now, stay inside the storm is over the top of you. dangerous lightning, gusty winds and hail, heading for philadelphia next. so again, this is going to ride right through jersey, new york city is going to pick up maybe two to four inches of rain from about 8:00 a.m. to noon today. i expect major airport trouble. philadelphia to new york city as we go through the morning. that s going to mean a lot of issues for other people. rain out there, oklahoma, city to arkansas. as far as the forecast goes, the worth of it again, this morning, wilmington, delaware, philly and new york city. be careful out there. the rest of the weather this week looks better than what we re
they ve gotten drenched. four days in a row. flash flood warnings many areas. st. louis is okay right now and so is kansas city. now as we travel to the mid-atlantic, humidity has increased. we have rain out there. rained pretty good the last couple hours in eastern virginia including the richmond area. so far so good in washington, d.c. there is some rain up north there on 270. the forecast for the northeast today, we will see showers and storms, baltimore, d.c. to philly, but we are dry from philly northward. still one more nice day before a chance of showers and storms returns and as far as the airports go today, many big cities will have a chance of thunderstorms including st. louis, omaha and des moines. we could have minor travel delays at those airports. not expecting a horrible day if you re flying the friendly skies. lady liberty and new york harbor enjoying a beautiful morning. you re watching morning joe brewed by starbucks.
