Bengaluru has fined 22 families ₹5,000 each for using Cauvery water for non-essential activities during the water crisis. The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) collected a total of ₹1.1 lakh in fines from these households, which were found to be using drinking water for activities like washing cars and gardening. The BWSSB has also issued regulations for the upcoming Holi celebrations, urging against the use of Cauvery or borewell water for festivities.
