we experienced the brunt of that. abby, you said you had to move, i had to move my family, we were downtown, i ve got three little kids and to this day, i kid you not, they see rain coming in, they see a storm, they get worried and they ask what s going to happen and i thing about those poor children right now in texas that have had to be evacuated and thank god there safe, but this is a true medic event. extra medic for their parents, it s hugely dramatic for them. most importantly, there safe. but now, their families will have to rebuild and its way to take a lot. economically for a family, this is a very hard thing for them to do. kevin: at the macro level, you look at the state of texas and the impact of houston, the largest city has a med economy. we already talked on the impact it will have on oil and gas, but houston s economy moves on more than just oil and gas. forget about what the breakout would be, it s probably in the
lake effect snow into upstate new york, some of that coming through. this is the beginning, we re likely to see more in the days to come. elsewhere across the country, rain coming in, still unsettled for much of the pacific northwest. doesn t look like that situation is changing too much as we go forward. looking at our future cast just a few showers but the next system coming onshore will bring more rain and mountain snow. this has been an active season so far for the northwest in terms of getting that snow. across the country, the record highs are likely to persist today. look at the numbers, 80 degrees in dallas today, hard to believe we re wrapping up december, but the mild weather persists along the gulf coast and southeast, getting cooler, though, in the northeast as we prepare for the nor easter and then the pocket of cold air into the rockies and the mountains. thursday as we watch for rain in the cities like boston and new york, we will see snow once again into pennsylvania, u
how are we looking lu the weekend? well, francis, since we don t have a forecast of more rain coming in, we are looking at the large swell of flooding that charles was reporting on. it is going to take a while to work down the mississippi, and that is why the rivers are forecasted to crest at different times, and days depending where where you are. and we are looking at the widespread flooding across a good portion of the nation s midsection, and even into texas, and oklahoma and arkansas, and we have major flooding going on. and 316 river gauges are reporting to be above flood stage, and watching the crest as the swell is coming up, okccurrd in st. louis, but it is going to take a while for the water to rece recede. in chester tonight, at 6:00, look for the forecasted crest at 46.5 feet. that is not at the record, but it is getting close. the concern in cape girardeau is that the forecast is for 48.5, and the vekd 50 feet. and now, we don t have rain
