i want everybody to go home and stay put. palm springs i mention gets 5 inches of rain a year. well we re talking about 3 inches an hour with this. it could possibly get that high. more likely in 1 to 2 inch and we re getting years worth of rain over a span of a few hours so you really don t need me to explain how that might create flooding problems, and some places here, we ve got guidance that could receive rainfall of once in a century proportion so again i can t stress enough this is not anything to take lightly. go home and stay there. eric: finally i guess at the hurricane center you ve been doing this a long time you never see the western part of the countries on your map. it s the nice northeast or down to louisiana what is it leak to see a hurricane now tropical storm for the first time in since 1939?
but you re already starting to get pummelled by some rain. how is that changing or impacting the plans there? reporter: yeah, we re definitely starting to feel the rain here. think about it this way, fred. this area normally would get about five and a half inches of rain a year. we may see all of that amount of rain happening within the next couple of days or so. so that is why they re so concerned about flooding and the danger of the roads here. if you look down here, i m told this is an area that does flood when there is a winter storm or if there s runoff from the snow in the mountains here so this is why they ve shut this down so early because flooding could come all the way up to these barricades. despite that, we did just see people out here offroading out into the wilderness back there. that s exactly what the mayor of palm springs does not want people to do. take al listen. at this point we re asking residents to stay inside, stay where you are. we don t have any reason to

we ve got the either extreme. we usually get about four inches of rain a year. we got about a third of that within 30 minutes. las vegas has only no drainage pipe and no sewers, it all washes down the streets and two people have died. you ve had property damage. you saw rain coming down inside of a couple of the casino floors, you don t know you have a leaky roof because it never rains up until now. so this allows to deal with some of those things in the long-term, build back better and be resilient and not to go to status quo. there are incentives for people to make their homes for energy efficient. there are rebates for the development of certain kinds of fuels, there is investment all along the colorado river. there is money to make our water systems more efficient so we don t lose water as it is delivered to the people. it is a great bill for nevada. so what do you believe the
