A new constitutional amendment on running for parliament after impeachment will be submitted to the Lithuanian Seimas on Thursday.
Should the parliament adopt the amendment in its first reading, the bill would go to the Committee on Legal Affairs and would then be sent to a plenary session in the autumn.
The proposed amendment to Article 74 of the constitution would pave the way for a person impeached and removed from office to stand for election no sooner than ten years after impeachment.
