As of now, Pakistan has conducted 98,522 tests, including 7,847 during the last 24 hours. So far 1,868 patients have recovered, the ministry said. National Disaster Management Authority chief Lt Gen Muhammad Afzal said they would distribute 100,000 testing kits in all the provinces by Monday to further increase testing ratio.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has welcomed the Pakistan Peoples Party’s decision reached during a recently held Central Executive Committee meeting to take part in the Senate elections and by-polls, expressing hope that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz would also follow suit.
Addressing a news conference at a local hotel after winding up his two-day visit to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the merged tribal districts as interior minister on Friday, Rashid said, “The Pakistan Democratic Movement [an 11-party opposition alliance formed to oust the ruling PTI] is out to create political chaos and instability in the country besides pushing JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman into a blind alley.”

In yet another rejig of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday elevated his Adviser Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh as the full-fledged Minister for Finance and brought high-profile political ally Sheikh Rashid Ahmed to the interior ministry’s helm.
The prime minister picked Azam Khan Swati, who was serving as the minister of counter-narcotics, to replace Rashid as the railways minister, while Rashid’s predecessor at the interior ministry, Brig (retd) Ijaz Ahmed Shah, was given the narcotics control ministry, vacated by Swati.
