A Lake Erie island, prohibition, and a family of today’s intriguing beers that would’ve been right at home in 1920s Ontario. Hold tight as I weave them together.
Let’s start on Middle Island, south of Point Pelee. While technically part of Canada, it was owned for decades by Americans. There was once a lodge, maybe a brothel, and definitely an airstrip to accommodate bootlegging during prohibition.
