The Minnesota Rokkr and Toronto Ultra were the big winners Thursday as the Call of Duty League s Stage 5 Major got underway.
Minnesota, which finished third in Group B during group play, delivered an impressive 3-1 verdict over the Atlanta FaZe. Meanwhile, Toronto held off a worthy challenge fromthe Los Angeles Thieves in a 3-2 victory.
The Rokkr and Ultra are now one victory from earning spots in the winners-bracket final. Minnesota will next take on the Group B champion Dallas Empire, with Toronto set to face the Group A winners, OpTic Chicago. Both matches will be contested on Friday.

OpTic Chicago swept the London Royal Ravens 3-0 on Thursday to solidify its first-place standing in Group A of the Call of Duty League s Stage 5.
In the only other match Thursday in the Seattle Surge s home series as Week 3 began, the New York Subliners edged the Paris Legion 3-2.
The 12 teams are split into two groups of six across three weeks of action to determine seeding for the Stage 5 major, which begins July 29. All group-stage matches and playoff matches are best-of-five except for the Aug. 1 grand final, which will be best-of-nine.
Rokkr, Empire advance in CDL s Stage 4 Major

The Minnesota Rokkr and Dallas Empire posted 3-0 wins Thursday to reach the upper-bracket semifinals as the Call of Duty League s Stage 4 Major got underway.
The event marks the return of in-person play for the Call of Duty League, with the tournament being held at Esports Stadium Arlington (Texas), the Empire s home venue. However, no fans will be in attendance this weekend.
The Rokkr topped the New York Subliners to advance to a Friday matchup with the Atlanta FaZe. The Empire, who got past OpTic Chicago, move on to face Toronto Ultra on Friday.
