Olusegun “Segun” Ogunsanya will succeed Raghunath Mandava as Director at Airtel Africa PLC’s board on 30 September
In a company statement on Thursday, Bharti Airtel Ltd announced the appointment of Olusegun Ogunsanya as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD and CEO) of its Africa subsidiary.
Ogunsanya will succeed Raghunath Mandava as Director at Airtel Africa PLC’s board on 30 September. Bharti Airtel also announced the appointment of Jaideep Paul, who is currently the Chief Financial Officer of the Africa Unit, as an executive director on the company’s board, effective 1 June.

Airtel Africa on Thursday announced that Olusegun Ogunsanya, will take over as the new MD and CEO of the company in October, following Raghunath Mandava s decision to retire.
Mandava would be retiring as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, as a Director of AirtelAfrica plc and as a member of the Market Disclosure Committee on September 30, 2021.
In a statement, the company said that Ogunsanya, Managing Director and CEO Nigeria, will join the Board of AirtelAfrica plc with effect from October 1, 2021. Airtel Africa plc. announces Olusegun Segun Ogunsanya, Managing Director and CEO Nigeria is to succeed Raghunath Raghu Mandava, as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer following Raghu Mandava informing the Board of his intention to retire, the statement said.

President Muhammadu Buhari has hailed the appointment of Mr. Segun Ogunsanya as the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Africa Plc.
Airtel Africa Plc, provider of telecommunications and mobile money services, with presence in 14 African countries, Nigeria inclusive, has announced the Managing Director and CEO of Airtel Nigeria, Ogunsanya, as the CEO of Airtel Africa.
In his reaction, the President, in a statement issued yesterday by his Media Adviser, Mr. Femi Adesina, said the flag of Nigeria had been hoisted proudly across the African skyline once again with Ogunsanyaâs elevation.

In a statement by the telecom giant on Thursday, Ogunsanya joined the company in 2021 as MD/CEO of Airtel Nigeria and will take over from Raghunath Mandava who informed the board of his intention to retire.
According to the statement, Ogunsanya has more than 25 years business management experience in banking, consumer goods and telecoms.
Before joining Airtel, he held roles at Coca-Cola in Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya (as MD and CEO); MD of the Nigerian Bottling Company; and group head of retail banking operations at Ecobank.

Airtel said Mandava will be retiring on September 30, 2021 as a director and member of the market disclosure committee in the company.
